In general, the rules concerning prohibited items in luggage are harmonized with Moroccan law, but each airline has its own rules concerning the number and dimensions of luggage you can take on board their aircraft.
These rules may vary slightly depending on the airline and the country. It is therefore advisable to contact your airline if in doubt. To avoid any stress at Marrakech or other Moroccan airports, we recommend that you check the regulations before packing your baggage.
Hand Baggage Rules
Dimensions and weights :
- Each airline imposes its own limits on the size and weight of hand baggage. In general, carry-on baggage must not exceed 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm and a weight of 7 to 10 kg according to the company.
Prohibited items :
- Sharp objects (scissors, knives), liquids over 100 ml per container, and flammable or explosive substances are strictly forbidden in hand luggage.
Liquids :
- Liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in suitable containers. 100 ml maximumall in a transparent, resealable plastic bag with a capacity of 1 liter.
Authorized items :
- Laptops, electronics, medication and baby care items are generally allowed, but must be removed from the bag for security checks.
Additional rules :
- Some airlines allow an additional personal item, such as a handbag or laptop bag, in addition to the carry-on bag.

Checked baggage rules
Checked baggage rules at Marrakech airport :
1. Weight and dimensions :
- Checked baggage weights generally range from 23 kg and 32 kg depending on travel class and airline. Total dimensions (length + width + height) should generally not exceed 158 cm.
2. Number of bags :
- The number of checked bags depends on the airline and the type of ticket (economy, business, etc.). In economy class, one or two pieces of luggage are often allowed, while higher classes may allow more.
3. Prohibited items :
- Dangerous items such as explosives, flammable gases, flammable liquids, toxic or corrosive substances, and firearms are strictly forbidden in checked baggage. For items such as lithium-ion batteries, please consult your airline.
4. Valuables :
- We strongly recommend that you do not place valuables (jewelry, money, electronic devices) in checked baggage. These should be kept in hand luggage.
5. Rules specific to liquids :
- Unlike hand luggage, large quantities of liquids are allowed in checked baggage, as long as they are not flammable or dangerous.
6. Excess baggage :
- If your baggage exceeds the weight or size limits, additional charges may apply. These fees vary according to airline and flight distance.
